It is so easy, since we all have fresh garlic cloves at home, (I hope). As you can see, I actually peeled them, (some people say you don’t have to), place the cloves in a shallow container with water, the points up and the rooting system down.
In few weeks, roots emerged. I planted them in good potting soil and kept them inside my home. Shortly thereafter, the green tops began to appear at the pointing tops, and I was a happy camper. Once they were at a nice height, I began to cut them for cooking and garnishing purposes. Boom!

So many ideas, so many black beads, Oh Lord, help me to enjoy this “stressful” time, smile.
It is always the most difficult part of this lovely hobby. What do I want to make, which beads size, shape and/or color(s) I should select? Then, in no time, your brain works on it, an idea develops and it’s time to execute it. Life is so rewarding. I feel somewhat embarrassed, I grew up, have children and grandchildren and never in my mind thought about baby pinecones, something that I love to use to decorate my home during the Christmas holidays.
So, this is what happened. I was going on one of my daily walks and suddenly a tree calls my attention. I stopped and grab a low branch and believe it or not, for the first time ever, I saw how the beautiful pine trees gives “birth” to baby pine cones. They are the cutest thing ever and mostly look like some kind of berry. Yes, I must confess, sometimes I get involved and consumed with the daily living, such as the weather, the news, the chores, oh well, you get the drift, and the result is that I miss the simple things in life and Nature that are so important for planet earth and us. Conclusion, slow down and enjoy the simple things in life that are not man made. |
