​Two of my favorite seasons are spring and summer.
Spring: Because nature begins to wake up in the spring, getting you excited about the upcoming outdoor beauty.
Summer: Because is when just about everything in the planet blooms. There is beauty all over and the temperature is great for camping, beach, vacation, family reunions; oh well you get my point, smile. 

Today I was lucky to pick these summer beauties from the garden. The yellow flowers are Rudbeckia, the state of Maryland flower and since I love Maryland, I love Rudbeckia. It is so beautiful and hardy, blooms from summer to fall and it multiplies itself every year.
 
The white flowers are Shasta Daisy. The purple colors are Veronica. I also filled the vase with Garden Sage. And guess what? They are all FREE!!!!!!!

Isn't Mother Nature adorable or what? I bought my share of beets for the week and it has never occurred to me to attempt to grow them at home. So I figured, if beets come with this bunch of greens attached, they may produce something, don't you think? My next step was to conduct an experiment and see where it would take me.
 
First, I cut the small burgundy stump located on top of the beet, where the green leaves grow. (OF COURSE, I ROASTED AND EAT MY BEETS, SMILE). Then I decided that instead of planting it, I would put it in a shallow container with water to see what happens.
 
To my surprise leaves were starting to sprout in the middle of the tiny burgundy stalks in few days. At this point I am not sure about what to expect. I am planning to put it in my garden soon. Will it continue to grow and bear no fruit? Will a beet develop from this experiment and will it taste good? Time will tell but for now I am a happy camper. If anyone has experienced this before, please let me know.
 
To be continued, that is if I get to grow beets from these plants, smile. 
 

​Creeping Jenny is the cutest plant to have. I use it in the ground as ground cover and love to use them in hanging baskets, since the plant hangs all over and looks amazing. What I love the most about Jenny is that “she” is an evergreen perennial that comes back in my garden every single year. 

I have some in the shade and others under the sun. It doesn’t require great care, in fact, I don't even remember ever fertilize or water these plants regularly. Yes, they will thrive if you do it but they will be alright without much care from you anyway. 

Location, location, location; when you bring Creeping Jenny home from the garden center, select where you want to plant them, in sunny or shaded areas. Either way, plant them about a foot or two apart because they grow fast and spread quickly.

Yes, Hydrangeas are finally out. This is such a majestic type of flower, huge and colorful. I just cut my first Mop-head Hydrangea flower and is one blessed with mixed colors. What a beauty. They also come in white, blue and pink. I decided to show her off alone in a vase, no competition required, since it will overshadow all other smaller yet pretty flowers. 

Mother Nature has given us one more jewel to enjoy this summer. Therefore, do not waste any time, if you do not have one of this shrubs at home, just enjoy my photos that will do it! Smile.
