It is so easy to start these plants at home. When you purchase sweet potatoes, sometimes you don’t cook them right away and they start to sprout at the pointed end as you see in my photo.
Simply wait until the sprout (I think they are called snippers) is about 3” long and snap it from the potato, place it in water and it will begin to root in about a couple of weeks. All you need to do then is to plant them in good soil. I actually got about 5 to 7 snippers that I placed in water and the roots started to show in a short time. Either way you can grow the sweet potato veggies or you can use the foliage vine to mix in with some other plant material in your hanging baskets. It is a win-win situation, smile.
