If you live in zones 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, chances are that you will be able to enjoy these amazing flowers that only bloom in winter, early spring and spring. They are so cool that at times I see the flowers peeking out of the snow.
Also, they are so forgiving and to give you an idea, I do not recall if I ever water them during any time of the year. I only remove the dry leaves in spring to give the plant an opportunity to bloom the flowers in a more spacious area. They come in different colors, however, mine is the white (greenish kind or light yellow) type. The flowers pop above the green foliage and when they open, they unfold into a cup that face downward, not straight up like many other flowers. Meaning, if you do not lift a flower to see how beautiful it is, you will only see the flower back, smile. So here are some stats: Lenten Roses Stats: Type: Perennial Color(s): White and tones of strong or light pink Plant height: 1 to 3 feet Plant width: same, 1 to 3 feet. Light: Full sun to partial shade WARNING: THEY ARE TOXIC TO CATS AND DOGS IF THEY EAT THEM.
