It was unbelievable! I had to look closer and closer and then, also ask the neighbor on my street, who confirmed to me it is a yellow Flamboyán. All my life I saw Flamboyán trees in fire red colors and never once, saw a yellow one.
The Flamboyán tree (also called Flamboyant and Royal Poinciana), is often rated in the top 5 most beautiful flowering trees in the world. It is native to Madagascar and grows in tropical/sub-tropical regions in zones 10 to 12. The Flamboyán tree is commonly grown in the Caribbean, Africa and Northern Australia and of course, I saw this one in Florida, smile. The FLAMBOYÁN tree will always remind me of my hometown, PONCE, my tropical Puerto Rican island and the roots that defines who I am and where I came from.
