What on earth is going on this summer?
Floods: In some parts of the country, like in California and Colorado, we are experiencing intense drought; resulting in an increase of dangerous fires. Drought: In other areas, it has been raining like forever, torrential type. Then it all comes down at once creating dangerous floods in creeks, over bridges, inundations going through homes damaging anything on their path. Even Hawaii experienced a hurricane that brought lots of floods. All these natural events affect our gardens. Here in the mainland, the trees are quite confused. Those located in drought areas are already turning the leaves yellow and dropping them. One positive side, the vegetable gardens are thriving with tons of sun; however, don’t forget to water them. Friends, one thing is for sure, there isn’t any snow in the forecast to worry about for quite a while and that makes me quite happy, smile! All the aforementioned drama brings tons of garden work. You have to either water the lawn during drought or cut if more often when there is too much weekly rain; remove dead plants in the flower and veggie beds, plant new ones, water them, feed them, keep deadheading those that needs to and the list goes on and on. The best part? You will eat the organic produce you are harvesting weekly and enjoying the flowers and green lawn that you worked so hard to keep alive, smile. Nevertheless, please don’t be discouraged by the work. For one thing it will keep you in great shape, physically and emotionally and furthermore, be grateful, it could be horrifying, like a 3’ plus snow storm, SMILE!
