Venice is a charming town located about one hour drive south of Tampa, Florida. Last week I posted photos of one of my favorite places there, “The Venice Pier”. Today, however, I would like to focus on some of the other nearby attractions, the many beaches in Venice.
These are some of the photos that I took on my trip to Venice recently. This is the second set of five in the Venice, Florida Series. Enjoy and if your hometown is already “winter cold”, just hope on a plane or drive to one of this warm beaches. Venice is located approximately 45 miles south of Tampa, Florida, with about 14 miles of gorgeous beautiful sand beaches, a primary reason why Venice is well known. This is also one of the top areas where you have a good chance to find shark’s teeth washed up on the sand. Venice is known as “The Shark’s Tooth Capital of World.” The teeth are dark grey in color, very smooth and can be as long as 5” in length.
There are many other things to explore in Venice, and some fun scavenger hunt ideas for you and the children include; sand dollars, starfish, shells and pieces of corals. However, warning, you must make sure that anything that you or your kids collect in the sand are not live, since it’s illegal to remove living shells from the beaches. My favorite place in Venice and believe me, there are many places for fun, is “The Venice Pier”. Visitors can enjoy fishing from the 700-foot, huge long pier and they are not required to have their own fishing license. From the Pier you can also enjoy outstanding sunsets. Nearby there are restaurants, picnic shelters, sand volleyball courts, public restrooms, pavilion and a golf course. I am showing you some of the photos that I took on my trip to Venice. This is the first set of five in the Venice, Florida Series. Although this will be the last post in this series which you will see in my blog, please don’t forget to plan a trip to this marvelous place, New Orleans, a city with an abundance of raw talent.
