I have driven by Indianapolis many times, however, never stayed longer to see some of its downtown area; incidentally called, “The Mile Square”. It’s call that because of the many bars, local festivals, arts exhibit, restaurants, marathons and more.
When one thinks about Indianapolis, the first thing that comes to mind is the famous car race Indy 500. On that subject, the following are a couple of interesting facts about the race. Indy 500: Total race covers 500 miles, but the driver accomplishes all of it by doing 200 laps on the 2.5-mile motor speedway oval layout during the actual competition. Brilliant, but I feel dizzy, smile. Al Unser: This guy won this famous race 4 times. However, on his last win he was 45 years old, making him the oldest winner of Indy 500 in history. Other than car racing, there are several famous people “Born” in the state of Indiana, they are: Michael Jackson: Singer Janel Jackson: Singer Jackson Five: Singers Axl Rose: Singer John Mellencamp: Singer Larry Bird: Basketball Player Adam Lambert: Singer Baby face: Singer Steve McQueen: Actor The following photo montage includes the Wholesale District, Downtown Indianapolis, the Soldiers and Sailors Monument and other... I did enjoy my short stay during the holidays with my adorable family and hopefully, you will venture to Indianapolis, Indiana one of these days.
