When it gets hot we all come out like the ants to enjoy the sun. Also, to enjoy BBQ parties, picnics, cookouts, family reunions, weddings, well, you name it. We all love to party, and my three main reasons to welcome these activities are in these order; Friends, Fun and Food.

However, after going to a party, some of us come home regretting how much we ate there. To me the most important element of going to a party is to enjoy my friends company, sharing news, meeting new ones, etc.

Therefore, in order to keep my waistline safe, I developed few hacks that help me enjoy the parties and prevent me from regretting how much I ate.

  1. I eat a healthy snack with a healthy juice like carrot, pomegranate or orange juice just before leaving home, therefore, when I arrive at a party I am not crazy hungry.
  2. I go super easy on the wine, hoping that one glass will last me the whole party, smile.
  3. At the appetizers table, I eat lots of their veggies, fruits and anything that looks healthy like humus, salsa, Tzatziki sauce, etc.
  4. As soon as I get my appetizers plate full, I walk away from that table until dinners is served.
  5.  I politely decline offers to eat “dangerous temptations” such as chicken wings, sausages, etc.
  6. I go super easy in one of my passions, CHEESES, smile.
  7. When dinner is ready for the guests, I fill my plate with salads and veggies and a small protein portion, avoiding breads, crackers, potatoes and any other starch.
  8. As much as I would like to, I don’t go back for seconds.
  9. As any normal human, I may eat more than I am used to, since it is a party and between laughter and fantastic conversations with friends you lose track of time, smile. But that is 100% fine. I just increase a bit my exercise routine the following day.
  10. FINALLY, since I am such a sweet girl and did so good trying to eat healthy at a party, when dessert time comes up, I indulge and eat a piece of everything they have for dessert, especially anything chocolate! After all, I was a good girl and I am worth it!
