FAMILY LIFE

TIPS FOR LIVING THE GOOD LIFE.

MEMORIES: SINCE JUNE IS ALMOST OVER, THIS IS MY TAKE ON NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS AND WHY IT'S SO HARD FOR ALL OF US TO STICK TO THEM THESE DAYS.

It’s quite simple, I feel sorry for all of us. We are living in a fast-paced frenzy that leaves us with no extra time for anything.

Think about this: Today most purchases are done on-line. People have no time to go to the local malls and if they do, then they go home and purchase it on-line. We are witnessing the gradual death of the shopping malls and mammoth retailers such as Sears, K-mart, Toys R Us, Macy’s, and many more, in line preparing to announce their closings sometime in the near future.

The original pizza delivery is now shared with laundry delivery, food delivery, maid service coming to clean your homes, lawn service, pool cleaning service, exterminator service and then the daily parade or Federal Express, UPS, Amazon delivery trucks and all the rest.

Interestingly, since we don’t even have time to go groceries shopping, we now contact our groceries store, electronically provide them the grocery list and they do the grocery shopping for us. We can either have them deliver the groceries directly to our homes or  we can just drive by and pick the bags up.

I am fussing but the reality is that the innovation that came to help (and entertain) us so much is something that is here to stay and now we simply can’t live without it: TECHNOLOGY; meaning I Phone’s, computers internet and of course, social media.

Think about it and maybe you will agree with me:
  • Few years ago we never saw people driving and texting or so many driving aggressively.
  • When was the last time that you received a phone call to your home phone (that is, if you still have a home phone) that was not from a market caller?
  • When was the last time that you received a letter from family or friends or better yet, when did you write your last letter to them?
Finally, this madness is here to stay, I am pretty sure that at some point you have seen a baby in a stroller and/or a toddler at the grocery store playing with their tablets while the parent selects the groceries. I call this syndrome: Babies and Toddlers in Training.

Ok… I guess you get my drift…and Whew!!! Is off my chest. Now, for all the aforementioned reasons, don’t feel bad if your “2019 resolution(s)” are still unaccomplished.  BIG Smile.
