Let’s face it, gold tones in our home decor are things of the past. They give an over the top formal look to homes that should be children, family and pets friendly. These days you can find great deals in gold color items that people are discarding and donating to charities. There are lamps, side tables, chairs with golden accents, picture frames, well, you get the drift. Thank God people are donating and not trashing these items to pack our landfills. Therefore, if you have an item at home that you would like to repurpose or upcycle and give a new life, hit the road to your nearest hardware store to purchase spray paint. Today, I am giving a shot to an ugly lamp that I kept hidden for quite a while in my storage closet. I needed a lamp for a corner spot in my living room, so I decided to go shopping in my own home. Lucky for me, I found this lamp. It is not quite modern but I thought it will do the job if I do some work on it. First, to make the transformation I needed primer and the color paint of my choice. Also, a well ventilated area outdoors. Second, to do the job right, I sprayed the primer and paint in strokes from left and right and up and down as needed, without putting too much paint in one area to prevent dripping. Finally, I allowed the lamp to dry completely for a couple of days. That also took the paint odor away. I found a lamp shade that fit the lamp and there, this was my result.
