Palms; they are by far my favorite trees in the whole wide world. It’s so ironic, when I was growing up in Puerto Rico, an Island in the Caribbean, I took palms for granted. Not only that, as a child, it never occurred to me that there are so many different kinds of palms, since to me they all looked the same. As I became a teen and young adult, I realized that the beauty and strength of these trees is unparalleled; they can withstand the worst of the hurricanes and if substantially affected, they can come back again. I am so sure that you, (like I was), needed a season change. Yes, we can’t complaint about this past winter, since it wasn’t that bad. However, I couldn’t wait for spring. Why? Everything comes alive, trees get their leaves, flowers pop out of the ground or you can go get them at your local garden center and you can refresh your home decorations and accessories. Therefore, I took the liberty to go WINDOW SHOPPING for you and I, smile! This is the first of several posts that I will share within the upcoming weeks. They will include outdoor living such as garden furniture, colorful dishes, accessories such as lamps, picture frames, garden accents, well, I ‘ll try to control myself to stop at some point. Yeah, I know, we all have different tastes in decoration and you may not like my choices. So, be patient and for now, just enjoy my selection. In the south of our country you never know what to expect. The climate change here is for real. It could be super sunny, 89-95 degrees. Then the sun goes away, the skies turns ugly and before you know it, thunder is deafening, the rain is so intense that you can’t see your neighbors’ house, whole hell breaks loose and the whole scenario looks like a hurricane is coming, or is already there. Well, don’t fret, it might be momentarily and before you know it, our friendly sun will make a comeback again, rewarding us all with a rainbow, not before giving us reason to go on “Panic Alert”. I love nature, don’t you? Enjoy the weather friends! Smile. I felt anxious, Spring is taking too long and I want fresh greenery or flowers or anything that looks alive inside my kitchen. So what’s a girl supposed to do? I took a stroll through my garden and the only thing I saw with potential was my magnolia tree. Therefore, like a competent neurosurgeon (that I am not) I approached the tree, cut several branches ever so carefully, thank the tree and tucked the branches in a container to enjoy. Bingo! Don’t they look marvelous? |
