Philodendron, What a Majestic Plant!

Is it too early to start gardening planning for 2018? NOPE!  It’s still awfully cold in many areas of our country now; however, warmer days will be here in no time, so get ready.

Philodendron are an ideal plant to use between your property and your neighbor’s line if you don’t have a fence. Or you can also use it in front of your home as an accent plant. It does not flower unless under special conditions and the color is a beautiful intense glossy green.

As with anything else, before purchasing this plant do some research; decide where do you want it, and how’s the soil, the sun or shade in the area.

Plant Stats:

Perennial: In tropical climates, outdoors
Hardiness:   Year-round indoors
Deer Resistant: Yes
Partial Sun:  recommended
Bloom Time: When things are right soil wise and light, they will bear flowers similar to those of Calla Lilies. (Although I never seen one)
Color: Glossy green.
Size:  Huge, over 5 feet tall and wide.
Water Needs: Very forgiving.
Good Companion Plants: use with crotons in the front, since they are smaller and in varying colors.
These plants display a wide array of foliage for the landscape. Finally, Philodendrons due vary on leaf shapes depending on species.
